Rules and Regulations for Admission

The following is the Admission Policy in general for students admitted from A.Y. 2024-25 unless otherwise stated:

The UG and PG Programmes

The college is envisioned to provide education and perform research in diverse disciplines of basic sciences. The B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hon.) and M.Sc. degree curriculum are designed to reflect the point of view that the sciences are a seamless whole with no barriers between disciplines.

Duration of the Programmes
  • The B.Sc. shall extend over a period of three years comprising of six semesters, B.Sc. (Hons.) shall extend over a period of four years comprising of eight semesters and M.Sc. Program of two years comprising of four semesters, with two semesters in one academic year. Each semester normally consists of 90 teaching days.
  • Each academic year has 2 semesters of generally 15 weeks each, with minimum of 90 teaching days per semester.
  • Summer Semester: June – November.
  • Winter Semester: December – April.
  • Each UG program shall have a curriculum comprising theory and practical courses with a specified syllabus. The curriculum of the program is a blend of theory courses and practical courses as Major Courses and Minor Courses. In addition, project, Skill and personality development courses as Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC), Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC), Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) shall be offered as per NEP-2020.
  • Each PG program shall have a curriculum comprising theory and practical courses with a specified syllabus. The curriculum of each semester is a blend of theory courses and practical courses as Core and Discipline Specific Elective (DSE). In addition, Project, Educational tour/Field visit/Industrial Visit are offered.
  • The medium of instruction and examinations shall be English, except for courses on languages other than English.

Admission Eligibility:

B.Sc. (Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/Botany/Zoology):

Candidate who has passed 02 years Higher Secondary Certificate (10+2) examination with Science subjects in respective streams of Gujarat State or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a good academic record, shall be eligible for admission, subject to such other conditions prescribed by State Government from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of Principal.

M. Sc. Programme:

M. Sc. Organic Chemistry:

Candidate, who has passed 03 years Bachelor degree examination with Chemistry/Industrial chemistry subjects or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a good academic record, shall be eligible for admission, subject to such other conditions prescribed by State Government from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of Principal.

M. Sc. Physics:

Candidate, who has passed 03 years Bachelor degree examination with Physics or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a good academic record, shall be eligible for admission, subject State Government from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of Principal.

M. Sc. Botany:

Candidate, who has passed 03 years Bachelor degree examination with Botany or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a good academic record, shall be eligible for admission, subject to State Government from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of Principal.

M. Sc. Zoology:

Candidate, who has passed 03 years Bachelor degree examination with Zoology or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a good academic record, shall be eligible for admission, subject to such other conditions prescribed by State Government from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of Principal.

M. Sc. Mathematics:

Candidate, who has passed 03 years Bachelor degree examination with Mathematics or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a good academic record, shall be eligible for admission, subject to such other conditions prescribed by State Government from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of Principal.

Application Process:

  • Applications will generally be issued during the month of April-May.
  • Candidates for admission should submit the online registration form through online registration link www.gcas.edu.in and submit the required information. After submitting all registration details, candidates will get user name and password in their Email id.
  • Candidates have to select streams/courses and college by login through the provided credentials. After final submission of application form and registration fee payment, the application form will be sent to the applied college.
  • Admission will be considered provisional till they are approved by the Principal.
  • Admissions can be considered to be granted only when the full fees for the semester are paid, an official receipt has been issued and the name of the applicant appears on the relevant rolls. Payment in full or in part can be condoned or deferred by the Principal.
  • All admissions of undergraduates and post graduates are valid as per norms for the full duration of the programs. However, he/she is required to register at the beginning of every academic year.

Selection:

  • Admissions to the various Programs are done on the basis of merit as declared by the College and displayed on the College website.
  • Admission of students into the Autonomous Degree Programs will be on the basis of the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination or its equivalent, unless specified otherwise.  The prevailing Reservation Policy as specified by the Government of Gujarat.
  • All admissions will be subject to the verification by Principal.
